Introduction to Bay Swimming @ Aquatic Park San Francisco

Introduction to Bay Swimming

Looking to get into open water but not sure where to start? Feeling a little tentative about swimming in San Francisco Bay and open water in general?

This 3 hour class covers the basics of Open Water Swimming: sighting, tides, currents, cold water as well as physical and mental preparation.  We will have about an hour of Q/A and lecture .We'll then get into the bay at Aquatic Park and practice some drills, swim some and get some tips on your technique. Afterwards, we'll get out and debrief and plan your next swim!

You'll need two towels, suit , cap goggles, ear plugs if you wear them, and flip flops for walking on the sidewalk. It is suggested you bring a thermos of something hot to drink and a snack. Wear warm, loose clothes as well.

There is about 45  min of swimming but it's broken up into manageable bits. You do need to be able to swim 200 yards unassisted.

There are limited spaces so please pre-register. No refunds given within 48 hours of event. The cost is $65 pp. Swim Across America participants pay $55.
